This is not often used by canoeist as a park and play spot due to lack of a close car park, and various tales of cars being broken into at Bainbridges industrial estate ( A 10 min paddle down stream of the weir ).

The weir pool is extremely shallow at normal levels with kayaks grounding on the jagged rubble just below the surface in front of the sluice gate.
At high levels the gate can form a mushy wave when it is open, but beware of those jagged rocks !

The canoe pass is great for taking beginners down and ideal for those wanting to practice breaking in and out but very confined close to the fish ladder that runs next to the canoe shoot.

IF IN DOUBT, PADDLE WITH SOMEONE WITH EXPERIENCE OF THIS WEIR.
